OWLSEO legal information
Cookie Policy
A clear explanation of the cookies and similar technologies used by OWLSEO and how to accept, reject or change non-essential tracking choices.
1. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files stored on a browser or device. Similar technologies include pixels, tags, local storage, SDKs and scripts that read or write information on a device. Some are set by OWLSEO (first-party); others are set by vendors whose services appear on the site (third-party).
This Policy should be read with our Privacy Policy. It does not treat continued browsing as consent. Where consent is required, non-essential technologies are blocked until you make an affirmative choice in Cookiebot.
2. Cookie categories
| Category | Purpose | Consent |
|---|---|---|
| Necessary | Operate the site and checkout, remember consent, balance traffic, secure requests, prevent abuse and maintain sessions. | Used without optional consent where strictly necessary. They cannot be disabled through the banner, but may be blocked in the browser at the risk of breaking features. |
| Preferences | Remember optional language, interface or media choices. | Used only under the choice shown by Cookiebot where consent is required. |
| Statistics | Measure page use, traffic sources, errors and interactions so we can improve performance. Google Tag Manager and analytics tools load only if statistics consent is allowed. | Prior consent where required. |
| Marketing | Measure campaigns, conversions and advertising audiences. Meta Pixel and consent-controlled YouTube embeds fall within this category. | Prior consent where required. |
| Unclassified | Technologies still being evaluated. Cookiebot may list them while classification is completed. | Blocked unless the applicable consent configuration permits them. |
3. Current technologies and providers
- Cookiebot: displays the consent interface, records categories accepted or rejected and provides the live declaration.
- Google Tag Manager and analytics: load after statistics consent to measure visits and interactions. Tags managed inside GTM may change, so the live declaration is the most current inventory.
- Meta Pixel: loads after marketing consent to measure page views, checkout initiation and subscription-related conversions.
- YouTube: video embeds are consent-controlled and may set or read Google/YouTube identifiers when loaded.
- OWLSEO/Vercel security and application storage: may support routing, security, consent, checkout state and essential application behavior.
Cookie names, providers and lifetimes can change when browsers or vendors update their systems. The Cookiebot declaration below is generated from a current site scan and controls if there is a difference from an illustrative example in this summary.
4. Your consent choices
On the first visit, Cookiebot lets you accept all categories, reject non-essential categories or choose them individually. Acceptance is not required to access ordinary site content or purchase the core Service. You may withdraw consent at any time as easily as you gave it; withdrawal does not affect processing already lawfully performed.
Browser controls
Most browsers allow you to view, delete and block cookies, including third-party cookies. Browser controls operate separately from Cookiebot. Private browsing may reduce local storage but does not make activity anonymous to websites or network providers.
Advertising choices
Where applicable, rejecting the marketing category is OWLSEO’s site-level method to opt out of advertising-related cookie sharing. Industry opt-out tools may add separate controls, but they do not replace our consent interface.
5. Live cookie declaration
The declaration identifies cookies detected on this site, including provider, purpose, type and maximum storage duration. A “session” item generally expires when the browser session ends; a persistent item remains until its stated expiry or manual deletion.
6. Legal basis and information generated by cookies
Necessary storage is used to deliver a service requested by the user and protect the site. Non-essential statistics and marketing storage is based on consent where ePrivacy, UK PECR, GDPR or similar law requires it. Cookie identifiers, IP addresses and usage events may be personal information and are handled under our Privacy Policy.
We do not sell personal information for money. Where law defines advertising technology disclosures as a “sale” or “sharing”, refusing or withdrawing marketing-cookie consent prevents OWLSEO from intentionally loading the Meta Pixel through our consent mechanism.
7. Changes and contact
We may update this Policy when our site, vendors or legal obligations change. Material changes may require a new consent choice. The live declaration is updated through Cookiebot’s scanning process.
